An award-winning sustainable entrepreneur combining vision, theory & practice, Bernice set her mission to problem-solve the systemic issues of over-consumption using design thinking & creative innovation. She gained her PhD in Fashion Systems Engineering & Design Management, after architectural degrees at University of Cambridge & Royal College of Art, and a fashion career in New York & London.

Bernice founded pioneering sustainable fashion brand DEPLOY in 2006 as a strategic action plan to reform fashion. Its novel 360 Sustainability model of customised product-service-experience, zero-waste supply chain, on-demand production, creative upcycling, agile retail operation, bespoke after-sale service & education-humanitarian partnerships increases the benefit for people whilst reducing damage for the planet. Named a ‘Great British Brand’ of the 21 Century & winner of a Country & Town House 2025 'Future Icons Award' and Marie Claire Sustainability Award for ‘Ethical Fashion Brand of the Year’, DEPLOY certified as one of the world’s highest scoring B-Corps; contributing towards 12 of 17 UN SDGs. DEPLOY is widely featured in the media including BBC & Vogue.

Her speaking engagements span from The UN, Institute of Directors & Women on Boards to Harvard & London Business Schools & Stanford School of Sustainability. She is a contributing author to several books incl. Accelerating Sustainability in Fashion, Clothing & Textiles (Routledge) which she also co-edited.
